If you're seeking a unique opportunity to explore the enchanting world of woodfiring, We warmly invite you to join us for an unforgettable experience at 3TREESceramics//Balma.IT. We will do another firing of our catenary-arch woodkiln 'Sophia-gama. Whether you're a experienced woodfirer or exploring this technique for the first time, we welcome artists from all backgrounds and nationalities.
Spring Firing
19 Apr - 3 May 2026
You will be housed in our simple and modest mountainhouse, a 8 minute drive or a 30 minute walk from the kiln.
After arriving on Sunday afternoon, you can glaze your work on Monday and Tuesday with our special glazes,
all homemade celadons, tenmoku's, shino's and ash glazes.
On Wednesday we will fill up the kiln and start the firing in the evening.
Thursday we will start stoking at 5:00 AM and after we do a claybody reduction at around 900-950* C we will be firing up to 1300*c //cone 11 with our local red pine wood. In the end do some reduced cooling trapping to get all those vibrant colours, then we call it a night. On Friday we let our 'Sophia-gama cool naturally.
It feel like Christmas unpacking the kiln on Saturday .
We then exhibit our works for all members and local friends enjoying some wine and food
Slowly we start to clean the kiln and kilnsite, preparing for our next firing. On Sunday we will part our ways.
If you want to be part of this exclusive experience then bring your own bisquefired works. You will be able to allocated your works on a 75 x 50 kilnshelf, varied sizes. To ensure an intimate and enriching experience, we are limiting the group size to a maximum of 8 passionate ceramic artists including us, Cora and Joris..
The costs will be € 1000,- to participate. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.
Booking is only final after payment is in full..
Whether you're an experienced woodfirer or exploring this technique for the first time, we welcome artists from all backgrounds and nationalities. Extra nights (Meals & Lodgings) is €30 per night Food is made and created together, included in the fee, simple but delicious. All alcohol is charged extra.
